Birds: Waterfowl and Sea Birds

From the beginning of time, people have searched the skies and admired the beauty and grace of birds. Scientists studied them to eventually make flying possible for earth-bound creatures like us. Doves are signs of peace and promise. Eagles are symbols of strength and freedom. They are fast and sometimes unpredictable, and always fascinating. I started photographing birds about 5 years ago in my backyard, and once equipped with a good digital SLR, I began the challenge of capturing birds in flight. I didn't realize it was an altogether new skill set at the time. The first successes were so rewarding, they fueled my admiration of these amazing creatures. The birds in this gallery were photographed in St. Simon's Island, GA; in Panama City, FL; San Antonio, TX; along the Potomac River in Washington DC, and some from a friend's dock on the Little Satilla River near Brunswick, GA.
